	POETIC LICENCE HAND-COLOURING PHOTOGRAPHS WITH RENOWNED ARTIST MICKY ALLAN 2 Sessions Saturday 17 October & Saturday 24 October 2015, 9am—12pm Book here > SESSION 1 The first day of this workshop will introduce students to hand-colouring, the wide range of possibilities and mediums available to this technique, and the different ways this can be approached. Micky Allan will share her own practice and experience in this field as a pioneer in hand-colouring photography through practical demonstrations and theoretical discussion. Students will be supplied with photographic paper supplied by Ilford and go away with inspiration and knowledge of what images to bring and create for hand-colouring the following Saturday. If you wish, please bring any colouring materials you already have to session 1 for advice on their suitability for session 2. SESSION 2 This session will allow students to practice hand-colouring on their own prints with guidance from Micky. Students will experiment first hand with touch and colour while pushing the boundaries of their photographic prints. Please note students will be required to bring their chosen medium for colouring (e.g. watercolour, gouache, colour pencils, inks, acrylic, oil paint, dyes, pastel pencils)  ABOUT THE ARTIST Micky Allan is one of the most unusual and accomplished of contemporary Australian artists. Pioneering hand-painted photography in the late 70's and early 80's she has continued to show inventive use of materials and adventurous interplay between media. Her work covers painting, works on paper, installation work (both in its own right and in dialogue with paintings) and, most recently, both engraved glass panels over works on paper and new photographic work (in collaboration with Steenus von Steensen), some hand-coloured. She is interested in the dialogue between abstraction and representation and in subjective inner territories that synthesise the diverse and unexpected. Often based on notions of travel or cycles of change, they are drawn from places and cultures she has lived in or travelled to, including landmarks of the Australian landscape. Mat Cutting

Hi YCC Members,

I trust you have started to sort through your photos for printing for this year's show.  We are pleased that entries have started to arrive.

AlanS has offered to open his workshop for us so you can cut your mats, on Sunday 4th October between at 1 pm & 3 pm if there is a need. You are invited to either use the matting equipment yourself - or organise for him to mat your images for you.

Alan has a selection of mat to choose from and he can supply you at discount prices for either full or half sheets. (Black, White, Green, Dark Blue, Red, Sand) If you have a special colour that you require he can get it but you MUST have your order to him by Tuesday 29th no later than 6 PM.

This will leave a week for your images to be finalised and ready for entry by the 10th.

Can you please let Kerry know either way and indicate if you would like to take up Alan's offer - Yes or No?
