Blue Lotus Water Garden Outing 18th Feb

Last Saturday 8 club members met at the Blue Lotus Water Garden near Yarra Junction.

We all had a fantastic day of photographing the absolutely stunning display of a huge variety of water plants. The Lotus flowers were out en-mass giving us unlimited opportunity for great photos regardless of the overcast conditions.

General Meeting Oct 2016

General meeting of the Yea Camera Club Inc.held Wednesday 12^th October @ 7.00pm in the Yea RSL.

Jenni Tanner was introduced and presented on the post camera production of Black and White photographs. This technique has far more processing options than “in Camera” processing. She outlined several Photoshop techniques and her preferred option of “solid colour adjustment layer”. Jenni also listed the attributes that contribute to a good black and white photograph.  It was interesting to learn that all her B & W photos start as Raw colour photos because of the greater level of data in colour compared to in camera B & W.

Whittlesea Show

Alan Cole offered to take member photos to the Whittlesea Show.

Gap photos from last month’s Capture an idea were not available so judging results were not announced. Next month’s subject is DOOR/S .

The outing to Healesville Sanctuary is a week on  Sunday, the 23^rd October. Cost is $24.90 for Pensioners and $29.30 for seniors. Meet at the entry at 10.30am . Lunch at your cost.

Please let me know if you are coming so that we can wait for you at the gate.

Yea Carnivale 2016

A big thank you to all the members who helped assemble the display in the Good Shed,  manned the display and  submitted photographs.

The display was open for the opening of the Yea Carnivale on Friday night and then for the past weekend.We had many comments regarding the quality of the photographs and the variety of subject matter.The display is recognised as part of the Yea Carnivale Arts presentation and further cements the club's position as a significant member of the Yea Arts Community in the field of Photography.

For your interest, 227 people were recorded as having visited,with a surge on Sunday . Nearly 100 persons came through on Sunday and overall the display raised $249.

Congratulations to the winner of the People's Choice  - Michael Minter in a photo finish from Phil Glowacki. Well done and richly deserved.

First meeting for 2016 is on Wed 10th Feb at 7PM.

NOTE Venue is Y Water Centre for discussion and photo opportunity at the Wetlands.

Bring along your print for  Capture an Idea ...ORANGE.

We will hold the meeting at the Y Water Discovery Centre and Wetlands. Don't forget your camera,  tripod and flash if you have one. A jacket in case it gets cool would be a good idea. At this stage the weather is looking good.

REMINDER and HELP!

We have an invitation to take photographs at Flowerdale Estate this Sunday, meeting there at 1.00pm.

For those interested there is also afternoon tea (High Tea) available at at a cost of $40/head.

We need more volunteers for raffle sales on 11th and 22nd October. Let John C know of your availability. This is a vital part of the fundraising for the Photo Exhibition. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Just 2 hours of your time is needed. 

The club has organised a photographic visit to Flowerdale Estate for Sunday August 24th meeting there at 1.00pm . Afternoon tea is available at a cost of $40 per head.(We have a booking for 7 – 10 at this stage). We are invited to submit photographs for use in their publicity. This activity apart from an opportunity to get out and take photographs will also support their offer to supply 1st. prize in the raffle.

Please let John C know before Sunday 16th whether you will be attending.

Capture an Idea TEXTURE photographs were open judged by Rene and thereafter the members were asked to vote for their  concept of best  photograph.

Homework - still life triptych  was viewed.

Rene Martins gave a presentation on Landscape photography.

Guidelines and tips not rules.

1. You must like your own photographs.
2. Rule of thirds a tip not a rule.
3. High depth of field essential.
4. Use HDR for enhanced colour and detail.
5. Picture requires a focal point, a foreground, middle and background. He is a minimalist.
6. Tripod is optional.
7. Use a sky to add to the picture or minimize if flat sky.
8. Lines and curves add to interest and hold attention.
9. Movement can be both a detraction and an interest.
10. Weather and time of day are important to the composition.
11. Know the 'sweetspot' of your lens and shoot in RAW.

Will indicated a willingness to talk to the club on post camera enhancement and process or any problem area we nominated.

The meeting continued at Murchison Gap for the Golden Hour photographs. Rene assisted members with composition and exposure.

Members had a picnic tea in the twilight/dark and returned home about 8.30pm.

Wednesday Meeting now Saturday 22nd at 16:00 (4pm) LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY

Please note that there will be no meeting on Wednesday 13th.March. 

 

IT IS CHANGED to Saturday 22nd of March at 4:00 pm sharp in the RSL. Please be on time.

The meeting will commence with judging of your homework and Capture an Idea ( Texture ) followed by

Presentation on Landscape Photography by Rene Martins. 

Rene is a renowned landscape photographer and his photos can often be seen on the 7.00pm news/weather on ABC1.

At approx. 5:50 pm we will leave for Murchison Gap with Rene to take photos from the spectacular lookout.The " Golden Hour" is expected to be 6:30 - 7:30 pm.

Please bring a picnic tea, and cross your fingers for good weather and a good sunset!

Rene is currently being shadowed by an ABC crew, so I would suggest that those who have a club Tshirt wear them as potentially good publicity for the club.

FEBRUARY 2013 OUTING TO AMELIA RISE DONKEYS

Six club members attended the February outing to Amelia Rise Donkeys, www.ameliarisedonkeys.com, and experienced and very pleasant couple of hours with these delightful animals. There were many great “portrait” opportunities available; a small selection is shown below.

These donkeys were extremely well socialised and enjoyed our copious touching, caressing stroking and generally getting a big fix of relaxation. We all agreed that these unassuming little animals could have such a calming influence. WE WILL BE BACK!
