Congratulations to Michael Minter
Michael's Photograph "Sri Lankan Hobo" is one of only ten monochrome prints from the VAPS Interclub Competition chosen to represent Victoria in the Australian Interclub Photographic Competition.

Thank you.

FIAP World Cup for Clubs

Dear Peter,

FIAP World Cup for Clubs
FIAP have just released the information and entry form for their World Cup for Clubs event for 2017. This is an event in which any camera club can participate. It is essentially a massive world wide interclub competition.
Whilst APS itself, being the Operational member for FIAP in Australia, cannot participate in this, APS members are able to enter by organising their local camera club to enter as a team. It is not a requirement to be a member of APS or for the club to be a FIAP member to be able to take part.
The FIAP website is not being currently kept up to date as a new website is being developed. In the absence of being able to provide a link to the relevant page of the FIAP website, the three documents associated with this event have been made available in the FIAP area of the APS website.
Please head to this page for all information regarding involvement with FIAP associated events
http://www.a-p-s.org.au/index.php/about-fiap
See the section there regarding this competition and follow the link for "Other FIAP Documentation" to download the entry information.
We have lots of highly successful clubs in Australia with groups entering international salons. So gather your team and have a go at this event. Time is tight with the digital upload of entries due by 10th Nov. The entry consists of 20 images with a max of 2 per person. Both club and individual awards are up for grabs.
Best of luck to those who take up this challenge. I hope to publicise any successes of our APS members and their local photography club in this event in our E-News.
Bronwen Casey
FIAP Liaison Officer

Your best weather image. Australia's favourite calendar.
Calendar images feature in national media, including the Today Show on Channel 9, The Australian, The Huffington Post, Australian Geographic, Channel 10 and the ABC.

Hello Kim

We thought you would like to know there are only a couple of months left to enter your best weather photographs in the Bureau of Meteorology Australian Weather Calendar photo competition.

The winning images are published each year to great acclaim in the Australian Weather Calendar. A beloved Australian tradition for more than 30 years, the highly popular calendar (large format art reproduction on high-quality paper) hangs in homes and businesses around Australia—and in more than 80 countries around the world. Its keenly awaited release in early November generates national and international media and social media coverage, and featured photographers, many of whom give multiple media interviews, report that the exposure is great for their careers.

Competition essentials:

  • It's free to enter, and photos taken in any year are eligible.
  • Amateurs and professionals alike have been winners—our judges look for artistic merit, technical skill, and authentic and striking depictions of Australian weather phenomena.
  • The competition closes on 31 March 2017—head to www.bom.gov.au/calendar/contest for entry instructions.
  • If you want to check out this year's winners, the 2017 calendar is still available from shop.bom.gov.au—but be quick!
Download the flyer in case you'd like to spread the word—please email it around or print it for your community noticeboard.
Many thanks,
Robbie Kershaw

A $1,000 award from Birdlife Australia Photography

Every two years, Birdlife Photography Australia runs the Tom Oliver award, which is named in honour of one of our members who was a particularly good educator in photography.

The award has two sections, with a prize for each.  One award is valued at $1,000 and is for the winner in the adult section.  In addition, there is a $500 prize in the "rising star" section; which is for
entrants who are 18 years or under at the time of entering.

The award is not a photographic competition, but rather an award for
people who have created the educational material the judges feel best helps photographers take better pictures of birds.  There is no cost to enter, nor is there a limit to the number of entries per person. An entry does not have to be in a particular format.

Please find attached the full details of how to enter and the award's rules. We would appreciate it if you were to pass this information to your group members who may be interested in entering.

Best wishes,
Les Peters
for Birdlife Australia Photographic group.

Click here to go to Birdlife Photography site  where there are a number of competitions on the go.
Take a look and be impressed!
