The Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize (MCPP) is one of Australia's richest photography prizes, with $50,000 awarded each October to the winning photographer.
The MCPP invites photographers to interpret 'Contemporary Life in Australia' with an emphasis on Australians going about their day-to-day life. We aim to encourage the production of photographs taken in Australia, by Australians, which reflects the diversity, multiculturalism and uniqueness of life, no matter where you live in Australia.
There are many ways to interpret this brief, but we are after your perspective on contemporary Australian society, your life, your dreams, your abilities, your inabilities, your mates, your loves. We want the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful and the everyday. Entries are not restricted to portraits. Galleries of previous winners and finalists can be found here.
Entries for the 2016 MCPP close on Wednesday 31 August and we at the Moran Arts Foundation would love to encourage your current membership to consider submitting a photograph or two for this year's prizes. As well as the winner receiving $50,000 in prize money, finalists also receive $1000 and an opportunity to exhibit at Juniper Hall in Paddington. Judges of the 2016 MCPP are renowned photojournalist and director of photography for the Sunday Times London, Jon Jones and Emeritus Curator of Photographs at the State Library of New South Wales, Alan Davies.
